Short Description Of The Book:
Gopinath Mohanty, the author of Paraja, Amrutara Santana, Danapani, Matimatal and Laya vilaya, is a rare talent in the world of Odia novels. After Fakir Mohan, he has brought universal recognition for modern Odia novels. But not only novels, his short stories are invaluable treasures of modern Odia literature. He had written about two hundred stories. In 1951, two collections of his stories were published. They are 'Ghasara Phula' and 'Poda kapal'. In 1982, his tenth and last collection of short stories in his lifetime, 'Sata panch', was published. Apart from 'Sata panch' and 'Manar Nian' published in 1979, eight collections are not available in the market, after his death four collections of his stories (Shara shajya, Chhai alua, Tinikala and Baghei) have been published.
Now a number of works have been published in Navarabi monthly literary magazine. In this context, there was a need for an edited collection of his stories for the general reader. It is a great pleasure for the National Book Trust to undertake the publication of such a collection.
